Every year, the MS in Professional Writing (MSPW) hosts a faculty-led online speaker series for our students, creating out-of-class spaces for casual conversation and mentorship. Across the 2022-2023 year, the MSPW Faculty Speaker Series focused on freelance and consulting professional writing experiences.
From October through April, our faculty shared highlights from their own careers and advice with our students on freelance/consulting, networking, pitching, client management, negotiating, contracts, and more. See below the MSPW adjunct faculty who participated this year and the courses they teach in our program:
Sonja Ryst: Writing for Finance (elective) & Digital and Organizational Storytelling (elective)
Sue Davies: Writing Proposal and Grants (elective)
Lara Romanowski: Medical and Healthcare Writing (elective)
Clea Mahoney: Writing for Digital Spaces (core)
Matthew Vaughan: Technical Writing (elective)
Many thanks to these faculty for sharing their freelance and consulting writing experiences with our students! These talks were wonderful and we look forward to announcing our theme for the 2023-2024 faculty-led speaker series in the upcoming Fall semester.
