Student Support Center

The Student Support Center team is here to guide you through any academic challenges you might face, offering personalized 1:1 tutoring in subjects like math and writing, as well as educational workshops on essential skills and classroom dynamics. Whether you need help improving your study techniques, navigating conversations about identity, or mastering public speaking, our peer tutors are ready to assist.  Discover how we can enhance your academic journey.

• Peer Tutoring - Our peer tutors offer 50-minute, one-on-one tutoring sessions in subjects including g Writing (for all subject areas, not only writing courses), Math, English Communication, and Presentation Preparation. To book a tutoring session, Log into NYU Connect (also accessible from NYU Home).
  
  
• SPS Purple Pantry - The SPS Purple Pantry supports students experiencing food insecurity by providing staple foods to all SPS students. Contact sps.studentaffairs@nyu.edu to set up a time to visit the Pantry, or stop by either SSC location between 9am and 5pm.
  
  
• Peer Mentorship - Connect with peer mentors to get advice, build your network, and learn how to make the most of your SPS experience.
  
  
• DEI and Sense of Belonging Workshops - Attend workshops covering cultural adjustment, self advocacy, and inclusivity.
  
  
• Workshops - The SSC offers workshops designed to enhance your skills beyond specific subject-areas. Join us for sessions on classroom expectations, public speaking, study skills, financial planning, and more. Check NYU Engage frequently to see upcoming sessions.
  
  
• SSC Language Lounge - Stop by the SSC lounge at Midtown Center to practice your English-language skills and connect with your fellow students!

We understand that navigating academic challenges can be daunting, whether it involves tackling coursework or honing study skills. We offer a range of support services including peer tutoring, academic workshops, and language exchange in our SSC lounge.
