TRANSFER SUCCESS STORY

Oyindamola Shoola ‘20

Born and raised in Ibadan, Nigeria, Oyindamola Shoola is fascinated with the written word—its artistic use and it ability to expose social injustices. A gifted writer, blogger, and feminist, she transferred to the NYU SPS Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies (DAUS) after earning an associate degree, to pursue a bachelor’s degree that would hone her skills as a writer and communicator. Through her contributions to "Dovetail," the Division’s literary magazine; a deep immersion in the social sciences which offered the insights and skills hiring managers seek; and an internship at Elsevier, she gained the experience to unlock a wealth of new personal and professional opportunities. Financial aid and scholarships afforded the assistance to complete her degree with little financial burden. The impact of her education has inspired her to help others pursue their dreams at DAUS.
