Federal Pell Grants provides assistance to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need according to requirements established by the federal government. To be eligible, you must enroll in a degree program and must be matriculated for your first bachelor's degree. You are automatically considered for the Pell Grant upon filing the FAFSA. Amounts can change yearly. The maximum Pell Grant award is $6,895 for the 2022-2023 award year.

The Tuition Assistance Program is a grant awarded to residents of the state of New York who are enrolled in a full-time degree program. An annual TAP award can be up to $5,665. TAP is based upon financial need, and you must file a FAFSA and a separate TAP application. If you qualify for TAP, the TAP application instructions will be included in your FAFSA results.

Aid for Part-Time Study (APTS) is a grant program that offers New York state residents pursuing part-time undergraduate degree study awards in amounts of up to $2,000 per academic year. To be eligible, a student must have filed a FAFSA and must demonstrate financial need; must not have exhausted their TAP eligibility; must be otherwise eligible for financial aid; and must be enrolled for three to 11 credit points per term.

Qualified students may be awarded up to $10,000 per academic year. These scholarships are based upon financial need and academic potential and are awarded after completing the FAFSA. No additional application is necessary. You must complete the FAFSA annually to be qualified for the NYU SPS Grant, and you must enroll in a minimum of six credits per semester.

The NYU School of Professional Studies Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies (NYU SPS DAUS) is proud to participate in the Community College Transfer Opportunity Program (CCTOP). This scholarship and advisement program is designed to help qualified community college students transfer to the Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies. The CCTOP scholarship at NYU SPS DAUS is set to meet 50 percent of a student's financial need up to $7,500 per academic year.

Eligibility

You may be considered for the CCTOP scholarship if you meet the following criteria.

• Be a community college student at a partner school

  • Bergen Community College

  • Borough of Manhattan Community College

  • Bronx Community College

  • Guttman Community College

  • Hostos Community College

  • Housatonic Community College

  • Kingsborough Community College

  • LaGuardia Community College

  • Middlesex County College

  • Nassau Community College

  • Queensborough Community College

  • Rockland Community College

  • Suffolk County Community College

  • Westchester Community College

• Have earned a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA at the community college
• Have earned a minimum of 60 transferable credits towards an NYU SPS Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies degree program
• Complete the undergraduate admissions process, by August 1 for the fall semester and by January 1 for the spring semester; be offered admission to the NYU SPS Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies; and enroll in one of its programs of study
• Be a US citizen or permanent resident and eligible to complete the FAFSA form
• Be nominated by a member of the faculty or administration at your community college

We encourage you to visit our campus and to learn more about all that CCTOP and NYU have to offer. We host CCTOP Visit Days several times each semester, which include a tour of campus and a transfer-specific information session. You can register yourself or as a group for one of these days through the CCTOP website.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) scholarships are available to new community college transfer students with a minimum 3.8 cumulative GPA. You must be able to provide a copy of your PTK certificate and your final transcript. PTK scholarships are in the amount of $2,500 per academic year and are renewable with satisfactory academic progress.

The late Leon Shimkin rose through the ranks in the elite world of New York City book publishing—starting out as a bookkeeper, he eventually became the chairman of the board and owner of Simon & Schuster. He also was a one of the founders of Pocket Books. During his early career he completed his degree at NYU by taking evening classes. Deeply committed to supporting non-traditional students in their academic pursuits, he established this scholarship fund to provide tuition assistance to newly admitted DAUS students who demonstrate academic promise and financial need.

The SPS Global Diversity Scholarship is designed to help graduate students and DAUS undergraduate students from historically marginalized communities participate in SPS Global Field Intensive (GFI) courses during the J-term, spring, and summer semesters. By creating opportunities for students who may not be otherwise able to participate in a global experience, the Global Diversity Scholarship is one effort in the broader commitment to Diversity and Inclusion at SPS. Recipients of the scholarship will receive a grant that covers the entire program activity fee for the GFI in which they are enrolled. This scholarship is only available to graduate students and DAUS undergraduates. Traditional undergraduate students are not eligible to apply.

Federal student loan programs offer low-interest student loan options for US citizens and permanent residents. Federal loan options for undergraduate students include:
