The Professional Writing Impact Award is presented to a graduating student in the MS in Professional Writing program who has demonstrated a commitment to writing and communication endeavors that seek to impact society in positive ways. As the 2024 awardee, Yazmin Rosas leverages her copywriting and marketing expertise to empower small businesses and marginalized communities. Most notably, her thesis project yielded the BIPOC Brand Builder, a toolkit offering effective brand messaging strategies for minority-owned businesses. As a first-generation Latina graduate student, Yazmin is committed to uplifting BIPOC entrepreneurs facing socio-economic disparities. During her studies, she also worked as a brand copywriter at Hubspot, crafting engaging billboards, social posts, and podcast ad scripts.

Olivia Langenberg
Flag Bearer
Olivia Langenberg was selected as Flag Bearer for the MS in Professional Writing (MSPW) program in recognition of her outstanding academic performance and active participation as a student of this program. During her time in the MSPW, Olivia was keen on fostering meaningful connections with her classmates near and far. She engaged in mentoring opportunities with professors and guest lecturers. Olivia’s professional writing experience spans industries from entertainment to the nonprofit sector to boutique public relations. After graduation, Olivia is excited to continue her career in marketing and communications, with specific attention to developing brand voices.
