Are online bachelor's degrees the same quality as those offered on-site?
The online bachelor’s degree programs offered by the NYU School of Professional Studies Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies are the same degrees we offer in our classrooms on the NYU Campus. Online students have access to a full range of academic and career support services.
Will I receive an NYU degree upon completion of this program?
Upon successful completion of your studies and all degree requirements, you will receive a degree from New York University, identical to those earned by on-site graduates. You can even attend the School’s Convocation and the University’s Commencement ceremonies in New York City!
What type of online learning support is provided?
Many forms of online learning support are provided to students in our online degree completion programs. For example, students can schedule video meetings with their faculty mentors and advisors, engage in online tutoring sessions, and seek help when facing circumstances that are posing challenges to their ability to succeed in their classes.
How many transfer credits will be accepted for these programs?
The number of transfer credits accepted will vary for these programs based upon how they align with our degree programs. In situations where we have an articulation agreement with the institution you are currently attending or have attended, there are prescribed numbers of credits that will transfer over. We want to make the transfer credit process as seamless as possible and will work with you to make sure you receive the maximum number of credits. For associates degrees, there are no minimums and a 32 credit max. For bachelor's degrees, there are no minimums and an 80 credit max.
What types of financial aid and scholarships are available?
The same financial aid and scholarship programs that are available to students in our on-site programs are available to students in our online degree completion programs. Online students will need to submit a FAFSA form to ensure that they are considered for financial aid. Please view our guidelines for more information.
What are degree completion programs?
Degree completion programs are educational programs designed for individuals who have at least one gap semester from having completed their high school diploma or who have completed some college coursework but have not yet earned their bachelor's degree.
How does a degree completion program work?
Our degree completion programs are designed to be a pathway for individuals with a high school diploma and at least one gap semester between high school graduation and their pursuit of a bachelor’s degree at NYU SPS, or those who have completed some college coursework but have not yet earned a bachelor's degree, to finish their degree requirements. Once your transferable credits are determined, you'll work with an academic advisor to create a personalized degree plan. This plan will outline the courses you need to complete to earn your bachelor's degree. You'll select a major or field of study, and your advisor will help you choose the remaining required courses and electives. Your degree options are:
