The NYU School of Professional Studies (SPS) hosted its biannual Dean’s Graduate Student Welcome and Orientation on September 1st, 2021 at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. SPS Dean Angie Kamath shared opening remarks, followed by a keynote address from Helio Fred Garcia, Adjunct Associate Professor of marketing and public relations with the NYU SPS Division of Programs in Business (DPB).
Dr. Martin Ihrig, Associate Dean of DPB, later moderated a panel discussion for over three hundred students in attendance. Distinguished panelists included: Dr. Shoshana Bass, Academic Director & Clinical Assistant Professor, Management & Technology; Edafe Okporo, current student, Human Resource Management & Development; Tristan Peccerelli, current student, Public Relations & Corporate Communication; Marc Somnolet, adjunct instructor, Integrated Marketing & Communications. The panelists shared their perspectives on career success and embracing the academic experience.
DPB is the largest division at NYU School of Professional Studies, with over 2,000 students, 500 faculty, and over 9,000 alumni. The Division comprises four centers of excellence that educate leaders in the functional areas of an enterprise. Each department’s credit and continuing education offerings serve students at every level of their careers, providing them with the skills required to succeed in critical positions in their professional development.
