At NYU we are actively exploring the transformational impact of the digital ecosystem on how marketing and communications creates, captures, and communicates value. We are thoroughly engaged with leading brands and platforms that are driving change, and students work to embed digital marketing and communications skills in all of their learning. With experts like Felipe Barrientos, a leading Sales Trainer from Facebook (as seen in the photo), who joined faculty and alumni to lead a workshop in Digital Certifications.
Integrated Marketing and Communications
Mission
In the heart of NYC, the media and marketing capital of the world, our dedicated team of practitioner faculty members empower professionals to launch, change, and advance their careers in marketing and public relations.
Human-Centered and Data-Driven
Marketing and Communications are founded on a deep understanding of human relationships and behavior. Exceptional campaigns are driven by insights to human truths, enhanced with rich data about a consumer’s activity and response. Our curriculum helps students blend and balance these approaches.
Work-Ready Knowledge and Skills
Collaborating with leading brands, agencies and consultancies along with over 250 practitioners and academics, we equip students with the soft skills and the technical capabilities they need to drive direct and positive business impact, as members of integrated marketing and communications teams.
Global Perspective on Growth
As citizens of a global community profoundly impacted by digital innovation and disruption, our graduates are well prepared to lead marketing and communications functions, navigate the global landscape, and develop innovative and purposeful business ventures that drive growth and profitability.
Activities & Initiatives
The Department of Integrated Marketing and Communications delivers industry relevant programming and curricula that align with the needs of marketing and communications leaders in the areas of Digital Transformation, Global Perspective, and Growth Leadership. Joining us in our classrooms every year are over 100 guest speakers and project judges from a broad array of leading brands.
Global Perspective
Our global perspective on marketing and communications attracts a wide range of prominent speakers, enabling students to build out their global network of influencers and thought leaders. Our classrooms give students an opportunity to work in international groups for team projects and learn from each other in broader discussions. Shown in the photo, Lydia Lee, president of Weber Shandwick in China, addressed a group of students and faculty members about the unique characteristics of China’s communication landscape.
Growth Leadership
Emerging leaders in marketing and communications aspire to drive long term growth. Our collaboration as part of the Institute for Real Growth – with WPP, Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Kantar, Spencer Stuart, Mobile Marketing Association, and Oxford University – is exploring the fundamentals of driving sustained growth. Innovative and creative thought leaders like Bonin Bough – shown in the photo, a transformative marketing executive at both Mondelez and PepsiCo – share their wisdom with students directly.
Industry Relevance
NYU sits at the heart of the media, marketing, and communications capital and actively participates in, and helps shape, the future thinking about marketing and communications. Faculty work with students on real-time business challenges, the curriculum is oriented to industry needs, and the school regularly hosts trade associations like the Tri-State PRSA, where we were joined by Sean Greenwood (seen in the photo), the "Grand Poobah of PR" at the iconic and innovative ice cream brand Ben & Jerry's.
