Professor John Moser brings over 30 years of distinguished experience in the hospitality industry to NYU’s Tisch Center for Hospitality. John is currently the General Manager of The Lodge at Woodloch, a top 10 Destination Spa that is known for its caring service and broad array of services.
Having served as a General Manager for luxury hotels in New York City and Chief Marketing Officer for a boutique hotel group, Moser has a deep understanding of both the operational and marketing challenges within the hospitality world. His expertise spans business intelligence, operations management, revenue optimization, and brand development.
Beyond his hotel experience, Moser has been actively involved in private clubs, serving on the boards of nine different clubs and as President of two. His personal passion for clubs and resorts, fostered during his youth as an avid golfer and tennis player, gives him unique insight into the club industry’s distinct culture and operational complexities. He now consults for various clubs, destinations, hospitality organizations and resorts across the country, helping them refine guest experiences and grow their businesses.
In addition to his consulting work, Moser is the former (12 year) CEO of CityLax, a nonprofit that expands lacrosse programs in underserved public schools. His commitment to community service and youth development through sports mirrors his dedication to fostering positive, engaging environments in both his professional and academic roles.
At NYU, Moser is known for his interactive, hands-on teaching style. He integrates real-world industry challenges into the classroom, inviting students to analyze current trends, meet industry leaders, and develop their own innovative solutions. His courses are designed to inspire students to think creatively, critically, and strategically about the future of hospitality.
