Barry Martin is an Adjunct Instructor of Consumer Behavior at the NYU School of Professional Studies where he was awarded SPS’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2018. Barry is Co-Founder and Chief Strategist at TELL-IGNITE, a strategic branding company focused on creating strong, emotional connections between brands and consumers.
A seasoned marketing and consumer insights executive, Barry has held senior leadership positions at global advertising agencies, media and publishing companies. His clients have included Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Pillsbury, Mondelez International, Yahoo! and Mitsubishi among others. In addition to his corporate work, Barry has led pro-bono projects for Human Rights First, Reach Out and Read and The Universal Hip Hop Museum.
Previously, Barry led the Consumer Insights team at Time Inc. where he worked in a wide variety of genres including news, technology, fashion, entertainment and pop culture. He also spearheaded several industry research studies including “Storytelling In A Multiplatform World” and “A Biometric Day In The Life” – a first-of-its-kind study that measured peoples’ in-the-moment emotional reaction to various forms of content during the course of their actual day.
