Negar Farakish

Dr. Negar Farakish serves as the Assistant Dean of the Division of Programs in Business and Clinical Associate Professor at the NYU School of Professional Studies. With a remarkable career spanning over 30 years in higher education, Farakish has held diverse positions including Executive Director of Academic Affairs, Academic Director of Graduate Programs, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of Honors, Campus Provost, and Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs. Serving in these roles, she has been instrumental in planning, developing, supervising, and evaluating academic programs as well as student services. Her exceptional contributions have been recognized with the NYU SPS Teaching Excellence Award in 2023, the NYU SPS Outstanding Service Award in 2019, and the Chair Academy's International Exemplary Leadership Award in 2015.

As a passionate advocate for students, Farakish has demonstrated her commitment by teaching and assisting a diverse range of individuals, from academically underprepared students to those pursuing competitive majors and careers at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Her tenure at NYU SPS since 2016 has further enriched her vast experience.

In addition to her teaching and administrative responsibilities, Farakish actively engages in various scholarly pursuits. She provides curriculum consultation, supervises doctoral dissertations, serves on editorial boards, acts as a Middle States Accreditation reviewer, and contributes to the review and selection processes of federal grants. Her academic contributions are evidenced by her numerous presentations at national conferences, co-authorship of two textbooks, and ongoing research on topics such as exemplary faculty, honors students' experiences, public-private partnerships, and faculty onboarding and professional development.

Farakish holds an Ed.D. in Higher and Postsecondary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, an Ed.S. in English Education, an MA in TESOL, and a BA in English Translation. She also holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
