Mark Maimone

Dr. Maimone is an Adjunct Professor Adjunct Professor in the Schack Institute of Real Estate at the NYU School of Professional Studies. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Brandeis University as a cellist and was awarded a Watson Fellowship to study in the The Netherlands with a world renowned cellist Anner Bijlma. He later joined a professional orchestra in Amsterdam and pursued a career as a cellist for a number of years. Dr. Maimone returned to school for a career change, and receivedt a BS in Civil Engineer and an MS in Environmental Planning from the Dutch Engineering University in Delft. He followed up with a PhD in Water Resource Planning from Groningen University, also in The Netherlands. AT NYU, he teaches a course on urban infrastructure and climate change. Dr. Maimone is a Senior Vice President at the environmental engineering firm CDM Smith. He has had a long career in water resources with expertise in groundwater and surface water studies; source water protection and stormwater studies; water quality studies; wetlands remediation; and mathematical modeling of ground and surface water. In recent years, Dr. Maimone has led the CDM Smith program on climate change assessments. In this capacity, he has developed several unique mathematical tools to assess coastal flooding risk, changes to extreme rainfall probability, and drought frequency and severity. He lives in Huntington, Long Island.
