Dr. Pano Yannakogeorgos is a Cyber Regional Lead with the Department of Defense’s Institute for Security Governance, and the founding program director (2019-2023) of the M.S. in Global Security, Conflict and Cybercrime, where he currently an adjunct Associate Professor. He is recognized for his substantial contributions to both academia and government service, and a distinguished expert in cyber international relations, national security, and cyber workforce development. His expertise spans the development of strategic educational programs and the leadership of key governmental cyber initiatives. From 2019 to 2023, Dr. Yannakogeorgos held the pivotal role at New York University’s Center for Global Affairs as the Founding Program Director of the Master of Science in Global Security, Conflict, and Cybercrime (GSCC). Under his guidance, the program launched and thrived as he meticulously crafted a comprehensive curriculum that emphasized innovation and collaborative learning, preparing students to address complex global cyber challenges effectively. The education programs he designed propelled GSCC student teams to notable success in prestigious competitions like the Atlantic Council Cyber 9/12 Strategy Competition, underscoring his leadership in cultivating top-tier cyber talent. During his time as program director, he spearheaded a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between NYU’s Center for Global Affairs and the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Policy, Plans, and Strategy. In the fall of 2023, he transitioned to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency’s Institute for Security Governance where he currently serves as a Regional Cyber Lead for Institutional Capacity Building, Dr. Yannakogeorgos plays a crucial role in enhancing the cyber capabilities of U.S. partners, demonstrating his commitment to strengthening international security infrastructures. Prior to joining NYU, His tenure with the U.S. Air Force further exemplifies his strategic foresight and educational prowess. As the Founding Dean of the Air Force Cyber College at Air University, Dr. Yannakogeorgos was instrumental in developing cutting-edge strategic plans, chairing influential conferences, and leading impactful research initiatives that have significantly advanced the U.S. military’s cyber operations and educational frameworks. Dr. Yannakogeorgos’s career is marked by a continuous dedication to enhancing cyber capabilities and security measures through education, policy, and international cooperation, positioning him as a leading figure in the global cyber defense strategy, planning, and policy.
