Dr. Fadia Nordtveit's (previously Dr. Fadia Hasan) research on environmental communication, global youth movements, new media technologies and social justice led her to found The BGreen Project. Fadia received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Hampshire College and her Doctorate and Masters Degree from the Department of Communication at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

BGreen began as Fadia’s dissertation project in the Communication Department at University of Massachusetts Amherst. BGreen is a participatory platform for global youth to convene to do action research and academic-community engaged projects that are based on environmental education and social justice. The scope of this project is explored in her book (Routledge, 2019), Participatory Networks and the Environment: The BGreen Project in the US and Bangladesh.

Fadia has conducted a wide range of environmental action projects with multiple organizational partners from around the world--such as action workshops, trainings, public access television shows, conferences, seminars, community projects, and deliberations in Bangladesh and the United States. Fadia is also in the process of creating an inclusive, green makerspace in Dhaka, Bangladesh to provide a sustainable platform for the creation of eco-friendly artisanal products by local equity focused makers in Dhaka.

Fadia is working on her new book (Routledge, 2021) in the Routledge Sustainability and Business Series called Millennials, Generation Z and the Fair Trade Revolution in the United States. This research project is committed to creating an inclusive model of trade that is based on the principles of sustainability, accountability, ethics, inclusion, social justice and livelihood generation.

Fadia’s social justice work continues to evolve. She is invested in creating intersections between environmental justice and the #BlackLivesMatter movement. All her workshops, writing and action projects are consciously built using equity, wellness and racial justice lens. Fadia’s work is committed to bringing forth BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) perspectives on social justice issues. Talking Out of Line is an example of one such inclusive, multi-media social justice project in partnership with public access media house, Amherst Media.
