Charlie is an adjunct instructor at New York University’s Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport where he developed and taught curriculum in the areas of Sports Technology and Innovation, Foundations in Digital Disruption, and Digital Media in Sports. He is also a member of the Business Advisory Board at the School of Management at New York Institute of Technology.
In addition to his role at NYU, Charlie serves as Chief Media and Marketing Officer for World Racing Group where he oversees all non-competition areas of the business, including sponsorship, event execution and production, media distribution and marketing for all it's racing properties. World Racing Group owns and operates six national and regional touring motorsports series executing more than 300 races annually, including the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series. Through its sanctioning arm DIRTcar, World Racing Group sanctions more than 5,000 races annually. Charlie also oversees World Racing Group’s direct-to-consumer business DIRTVision, which broadcasts nearly 700 live events annually.
Prior to World Racing Group, Charlie served as SVP of Global Client Services for Endeavor Streaming, the technology subsidiary of media conglomerate Endeavor. In that role, Charlie held primary responsibility for the global service side management of numerous sports and media ventures. He has launched and managed globally recognized content projects with millions of viewers throughout the world for sports and entertainment properties such as NFL, NBA, WNBA, UFC, WWE, USGA, ESPN, Rogers Sports & Media, Univision, Setanta Sports, and Sky Sport.
Charles is responsible for the development and launch of numerous well-known media and technology services. Starting with UFC Fight Pass, a first-of-its-kind streaming offering and the premier destination for consumers of mixed martial arts content globally, Charles launched a trend in the media space of identifying disruptive technologies and leveraging them successfully to drive consumer engagement and revenue. He launched Rogers Sportsnet NOW, the first direct to consumer streaming offering by a major sports broadcaster in North America, as well as Univision NOW, an entertainment and news service and the first such offering for the largest Spanish language media company in the United States.
Prior to his tenure in the technology industry, Charles spent more than twelve years in the finance industry. During that time, he was responsible for asset and operational management, as well as capital raises and strategic investments in companies ranging in maturity from early stage to pre- and post-IPO. Charles was a founding partner of a financial services firm that acquired within five years of its launch. He then went on to serve as a Principal of Financial Network, then a U.S. retail investment subsidiary of the Dutch global financial services company ING Group.
As a contributor to numerous industry conferences, Charles has spoken at the International Broadcasting Convention (Amsterdam), Streaming Media West (Huntington Beach, CA), the Asia Pacific Broadcasters Union (Hong Kong), and PromaxBDA (Los Angeles, CA).
Charles has an undergraduate degree in finance from the College at Old Westbury, and an MBA in Management from New York Institute of Technology. After earning his MBA, Charles furthered his studies at Harvard Business School, where he studied the business of entertainment, media, and sports.
