D Mark Schumann, PCC, helps leaders be who people choose to follow. Every day, as an executive coach, Mark helps leaders make the most of their opportunities to connect as well as overcome obstacles that may get in the way. As a result, leaders strengthen the cultures they shape.
As a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) of the International Coaching Federation, Mark has worked, in recent years, as an external coach for leaders at such organizations as IBM, Delta Airlines, Hess Corporation, CenterPoint, EDP and Total.
Leaders reach to Mark for many reasons. Some want to make the most of new approaches to contribute and connect. Some hope to strengthen awareness of themselves and examples they set. Some commit to become more precise in how they edit any behavior that may be misunderstood. Some choose to sharpen their communication skills and enhance their presence, in person and virtually. And all are determined to work through what may get in the way of being the leaders they can be.
Mark has worked with senior leaders around the world throughout his career. During 26 years as a managing principal of the consulting firm Towers Perrin, he helped help leaders and their organizations stay calm and connected during periods of significant change. Later, as VP Culture for the global tech company Sabre, before and during COVID, he led the reinvention of the work environment while also serving as an internal executive coach.
In addition to the PCC, Mark is certified to administer the Neethling Brain Instrument (NBI) and EQ-1 and EQ360 emotional intelligence assessments. He is the coauthor of two books on employer brand – Brand from the Inside and Brand for Talent – and holds a Master’s Degree in business communication from the University of Denver and a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Austin College.
