Sarah-Louise Raillard was born in Aix-en-Provence, France and became bilingual after moving to the United States at a young age. She completed a Ph.D. in French literature at Columbia University in 2011, where she also taught translation theory and practice. Since then, she has worked as a translator and terminologist for private sector companies, academic institutions, and intergovernmental organizations. Her most recent book-length translation (with Elizabeth Hutchings) is Youth on Edge. Facing Global Crises in Multicultural French Society, by Vincenzo Cicchelli and Sylvie Octobre, Palgrave MacMillian, London, 2022. She currently lives in Madison, WI and works as a terminologist for RWS, one of the world's leading translation and localization companies. In her spare time, Sarah-Louise trains as a circus acrobat with the Madison Circus Space.
