Marcela M. Berland is the President and Founder of Latin Insights, a recognized leader in strategic communications, crisis management, and women’s issues. She leverages consumer insights, market trends, and emerging technologies to develop effective strategies for corporate and political clients. Marcela has received several prestigious awards, including the 2021 Forbes Next 1,000 honoree, the 2022 Entrepreneur of the Year Award by LIDE, and the 2023 Trailblazer Award by BF. She is a founding member of the CNBC Changemakers Advisory Board and the Women Economic Forum and serves as an Adjunct Professor at NYU, where she brings her real-world expertise into the classroom.
Marcela has worked as a political strategist for more than 12 Presidents in Latin America. Her contributions have addressed women’s rights, innovation, digital strategies, and economic reform. Marcela has also worked with Mayor Bloomberg in New York and Governor Rafael Hernandez Colón of Puerto Rico.
Her extensive corporate client list includes major brands such as Airbnb, WeWork, Microsoft, Disney, PepsiCo, United Airlines, and the World Bank. She has led studies in the U.S., Latin America, and Europe for governments and corporations across diverse industries, including tourism, communications, and healthcare. Marcela's expertise in market dynamics helps clients develop strategies that resonate with their target audiences.
Internationally, Marcela has supported USAID in developing Romania's privatization program and conducted research in Eastern Europe after the fall of communism. She has contributed to U.S. media outlets like U.S. News & World Report, Fox News Latino, Latino Leaders Magazine, Latina Style, and many others producing special polling reports on various topics.
Marcela is authoring the forthcoming book "Public Relations in the Digital Era" and has co-authored notable works like "Strategies of Democratization." Her thought leadership extends to frequent speaking engagements, focusing on women’s leadership, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and strategic communications.
Before founding Latin Insights in 2003, Marcela held leadership roles at major firms, including Head of Latam at Edelman Berland and Managing Director at Bozell, Sawyer and Miller. She also served as President of the Latin America division at Penn & Schoen and was Director of Corporate and Environmental Practice at Market & Opinion Research International in London. Early in her career, she was a professor at the Catholic University of Argentina, where she founded the Center of U.S. Studies.
Marcela holds a Licenciatura in Political Science and International Relations from the Catholic University of Argentina, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She earned a Master’s in Public Policy and Survey Research from the University of Connecticut and completed an Executive Program at Stanford University’s Business Graduate School. Marcela serves on the board of the Pan-American Development Foundation (PADF) and is the U.S. Country Chair for the G100 Female CEOs and Leadership initiative.
