Executive in Residence for Healthcare Curriculum and Partnerships

Dr. Richard Gannotta is a distinguished healthcare leader, educator, and strategic advisor with decades of experience driving transformative change in the health sector. He currently serves as the Executive in Residence for Healthcare Curriculum and Partnerships in the Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies at NYU’s School of Professional Studies. In this role, Dr. Gannotta collaborates with university leadership to develop innovative healthcare curriculum, establish strategic partnerships, and create career pathways that address workforce demands while promoting economic and social mobility for students.

Dr. Gannotta has held CEO and senior executive roles at prominent academic and public health systems, including Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Duke Raleigh Hospital, and UC Irvine Health. His leadership has been marked by a commitment to innovation, transformation, and advancing equitable access to care.

Currently, and complementing his academic and previous executive roles, Dr. Gannotta is the Principal / founder of Washington Square Advisors, LLC (WSAdvisors.org), a strategic advisory firm dedicated to helping organizations navigate the complexities of the healthcare ecosystem. Through Washington Square Advisors, his work with healthcare systems, health sector companies as well as startups and investors emphasize the integration of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, and the development of resilient, forward-thinking healthcare models to drive measurable outcomes.

In addition, his research focuses on the intersection of healthcare policy, innovation, and strategy. The focus is on work that emphasizes the practical application of models like his "3-Factor Framing" methodology, designed to accelerate breakthroughs by converging market eligibility, environmental conditions, and out-of-field variables.
