Oleg Smirnov is an Adjunct Instructor in the Center for Global Affairs at New York University and an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Stony Brook University. His primary research interests include computational modeling and methods, statistical data analysis, game theory, and behavioral economics. His research has been published in various peer-reviewed journals, including Nature, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Global Environmental Change, Journal of Politics, International Migration Review, American Journal of Sociology, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Climatic Change, and Economics Letters. He was the Principal Investigator on projects funded by the National Science Foundation, including the Cyber-Enabled Discovery and Innovation grant “The political and security impacts of abrupt climate change on modern populations: An integrated computational model.” He has taught courses on world politics, climate change, computational modeling, behavioral economics, research methods, and game theory.
