Juanita Woods is a clinical assistant professor and the Academic Director for the MS Project Management Program. She received her Ph.D. from Florida Atlantic University (Boca Raton, FL) and holds two professional certifications in project and program management (PMP®, PgMP®) from the Project Management Institute®. Dr. Woods obtained a Master of Business Administration (Information Technology Management) from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
As Academic Director for the MS Project Management program, Dr. Woods works with project management professionals and students, helping both grow professionally. She has over 25 years of experience managing people and projects in information technology, financial services, and academia. After her first job as a high school science teacher, she transitioned into the IT industry, moving her way through the project team ranks, where she started out as a quality assurance analyst and ended up as a manager of a project office for a large financial technology services organization. During those 15 years, Dr. Woods developed and implemented project management best practices, formed a project management office for a technology support department, and provided consulting and training services for people and organizations interested in improving their project management and interpersonal skills.
Dr. Woods was recognized for her passion for excellence in project management education by the Project Management Institute when she received the prestigious Linn Stuckenbruck Teaching Excellence Award in 2023. This award recognizes and honors an individual faculty member for excellence in teaching project management and for their strong commitment to improving and enhancing project management curricula in higher education.
