Paul Hanau has more than 35 years of experience practicing law at law firms in New York City and as an in-house attorney. She also have over 30 years of teaching experience.

For nearly 20 years, he was responsible for legal issues associated with company-occupied real estate on a global basis for MetLife. That experience provided me with the opportunity to work on many large real estate transactions in New York City, throughout the United States and internationally. These transactions included purchases, sales, commercial leases and subleases, net leases, “build to suit” arrangements, space-sharing arrangements and tax incentive transactions. His responsibilities included legal issues related to the operation and management of Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village (110 buildings) and for legal issues associated with the company’s Procurement, Travel, Sports Marketing, Corporate Security and Aviation departments. I am familiar with contract development, negotiation and management, outsourcing and procurement, call center operations, corporate aviation, corporate security, sponsorships and off-site record management.

Building on my experience in-house, my practice includes sports marketing, real estate branding and sponsorship matters. I represented the naming rights sponsor of four NFL stadiums and one NBA arena. I also represented the sponsors of international sporting events, semi-professional sports teams, regional sporting events, golf tours, buildings, blimps and venues.

He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at New York University where he has been teaching for over 25 years. He has taught graduate level courses on Negotiation and Dispute Resolution, Real Estate Principles and Real Estate Law.

He also lectures at Fordham University where he teaches Real Estate Law and Principles on both a graduate and undergraduate level.

In 2024, he began teaching an undergraduate course in the Syms School of Business at Yeshivah University.
