ALUMNI SUCCESS STORY
Olivia Epstein ‘22
Assistant Project Designer, The Renovated Home
Olivia Epstein enrolled in the NYU SPS Schack Institute of Real Estate with no experience in the construction industry, only a passion for real estate, construction, and managing projects. She was a full-time student in the MS in Construction Management, while holding down a full-time job. Epstein was particularly intrigued by the construction site visits the program offered, acknowledging their ability to help illustrate and support the lessons learned in the classroom. Her classes in "Construction Management Process," "Construction Safety Management," and "Construction Scheduling," culminated in a Capstone project that allowed her to demonstrate all that she had learned. Today she is an assistant project designer for The Renovated Home, a high-end design-build firm in NYC that focuses on residential apartment renovations.
Benefit from Visits to Major Construction Sites in NYC
The MS in Construction Management provides students with the opportunity to visit a wide range of construction sites and to hear directly from those individuals who are planning and running day-to-day operations. Through these excursions, students gain a "real-world" view of just what goes into the management of large-scale construction projects, as well as the knowledge and skills needed to ensure project success. The techniques, tools, and materials discussed in class are brought to life as students tour some of the largest and most complex projects in New York City, with more than $60 billion invested in current construction projects.
Learn From Expert Faculty Members
At the Schack Institute of Real Estate, you benefit from the knowledge and experience of faculty members who offer students insights into the complexities of planning a construction project and seeing it to fruition. They impart their knowledge while preparing students for leadership roles in the industry, providing the support, encouragement, and industry connections needed for students to thrive in the construction environment and build highly successful international careers. Here James Rengstl '13, an alumnus of the MS in Construction Management who is now a project executive for Turner Construction, shares a smile with Professor Richard Lambeck P.E., chair of the program.
Gain Global Insights Through Study Abroad
MS in Construction Management students benefit greatly from study abroad opportunities that are available in the form of Global Field Intensives (GFIs).
