The practice of HR is changing, requiring all HR professionals to have keen analytical skills to be proficient in the use of data to drive business and talent strategies and decisions. The MS in Human Capital Analytics and Technology (STEM) program is one of the first master's degrees of its kind in the US and is designed to address the growing demand for highly skilled, people-centric leaders who are proficient in both qualitative and quantitative analysis and decision-making. NYU SPS students learn the methods, technologies and tools to use data to address real HR issues such as employee engagement and strategic workforce planning. Students will receive advanced training from expert faculty, obtaining leadership skills, business acumen, consulting skills, and the confidence they will need to work effectively with business leaders and communicate with a broad spectrum of stakeholders. Graduates of the program are able to apply these skills in diverse sectors directly in HR or HR-related industries like consulting, higher education and non-profits. Those interested in HR specifically are are prepared to excel in human capital analytics, talent management, and HR business partnerships.

The Human Capital Management (HCM) department provides students with unique opportunities to pursue their academic and professional interests beyond New York City through Global Field Intensives (GFI). These immersive courses of study allow students to study and experience first-hand how aspects of human capital management are applied in varying global cities and countries. Site visits at each destination translate ideas into action, and students network with speakers and organizations to advance their academic and professional contacts.

Siana Duntin

MS in Human Capital Analytics and Technology Student

With more than a decade of experience as an HR technology professional, Siana Duntin enrolled in the MS in Human Capital Analytics and Technology program at NYU SPS to stay abreast of the latest trends in her field as organizations prioritize the needs of their human capital to support overarching company goals. Siana found the HCAT program aligned perfectly with her schedule as a full-time professional. Her goal is to open a boutique firm that will guide organizations through leveraging innovative techniques and tools to optimize their human capital's talent. She is an avid fan of sci-fi literature, movies, and television.

Braque Smith

MS in Human Capital Analytics and Technology '22

While earning his MS in Human Capital Analytics and Technology, Braque Smith obtained an internship at IBM that blossomed into a full-time position after he graduated in 2022. He is currently a member of IBM's Human Resource Leadership Development Program, which develops the company's top talent for growth as future HR leaders. Throughout the course of his study at NYU SPS, Smith honed his interest in statistics and modeling to uncover trends and quantify metrics using data––an invaluable skillset in today's HR space. Outside of work, Smith's interests include birding, Italian Renaissance art, Pokémon, and music.

Beverly Tarulli, PhD

Clinical Assistant Professor

Dr. Beverly Tarulli is Clinical Assistant Professor and lead faculty for the NYU School of Professional Studies Human Capital Analytics and Technology master’s program. She has over 30 years of industry experience as both an internal HR professional and as a human capital expert providing advice and services to clients. Dr. Tarulli has held senior roles in talent management, workforce analytics, talent strategy, employee and leadership development, and as a senior HR business partner in Fortune 50 companies. Most recently, Dr. Tarulli served as vice president, Human Capital Strategy and Workforce Analytics for PepsiCo.

Dr. Tarulli’s professional interests and publications have focused on career development, employee development, the use of feedback in performance management, pay equity and strategic workforce planning. She has served in advisory capacities with the Business Higher Education Forum and the American Council on Education Global Alliance for Innovation in Tertiary Education. In March 2024, her book, Strategic Workforce Planning: Best Practices and Emerging Directions, will be published by Oxford University Press.

Dr. Tarulli earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from The University of Akron and her B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College.

At NYU, she teaches courses in Workforce Planning, Managing the Analytics Function, Human Capital Analytics and Capstone.
