MS in Human Resource Management and Development Curriculum
DEGREE STRUCTURE
CORE CURRICULUM: All students take a set of eight core courses, which provide a solid foundation of business knowledge and skills. These include, but are not limited to: Foundations of HR Management, Quantitative Methods and Metrics, Financial Management, Information Technology, Organizational Behavior, and Business Writing.
CONCENTRATIONS: Students apply knowledge from the core curriculum towards one of four areas of concentration: Human Capital Management; Organizational Effectiveness; Global Talent Management; or Learning, Development, and Executive Coaching.
CAPSTONE: The Capstone experience allows students to synthesize the knowledge which they have acquired either through an extensive business simulation conducted in the Special Projects course or by completing a Thesis. The Special Projects simulation is programmed to simulate a profit or nonprofit organization that is in manufacturing or service. Typical decision variables involve wages, replacing employees, hiring, promoting from within, training costs for promotions, fringe benefits, budget for other activities, safety, employee participation programs, grievances, human resources information systems, performance appraisal programs, affirmative action program, production levels, overtime, employee morale, turnover, and absenteeism. The Thesis must demonstrate the student’s ability to conduct comprehensive research and articulate original ideas and thought processes that make a practical contribution to the existing body of knowledge in the field of human resources.
Core Requirements
This degree is a 42-credit program consisting of a required set of core courses (8 courses, 24 credits total), a student-selected elective course (1 course, 3 credits total), and a required capstone special project or capstone research project thesis (1 course, 3 credits total)

Concentrations
Students select one of the following concentrations. Within each concentration students complete a series of required and elective credits.
Human Capital Management
For students who intend to work for start-ups or small organizations and aspire to advance their HR generalist skills and competencies.
Global Talent Management
For students, especially those who currently work for, or intent to work for, multinational companies, and wish to develop competencies in global talent management processes and techniques.
Organizational Effectiveness
For students who aspire to advance their skills in qualitative and quantitative data analysis, assessment and analysis planning, organizational alignment and development, and alignment of HR metrics with strategic corporate objectives.
Learning, Development, and Executive Coaching
For students who intend to aspire to advance their skill-sets in adult learning theory for the workplace and creating internal or external executive coaching programs.
