The Professor Edward Kleinert Memorial Scholarship

The Professor Edward Kleinert Memorial Scholarship is awarded to exceptional incoming students dedicated to using project management to improve their communities and drive positive change. The mission of this scholarship program is to support and empower future project leaders committed to transforming communities and creating lasting social impact. Every year, the program invests in students who use project management to drive positive change, promote sustainability, and create a better world for future generations.

The scholarship is named in honor of Professor Edward Kleinert, a distinguished Clinical Associate Professor who played a pivotal role in launching the M.S. Project Management program at the NYU School of Professional Studies.

SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY

The scholarship recipient must be an incoming first-semester M.S. Project Management degree student. They must demonstrate a passion for project management and a desire to use the knowledge and skills taught in the program to transform their local communities and support positive societal change.

SCHOLARSHIP OBLIGATIONS

The scholarship recipients will play an integral part in the M.S. Project Management program student experience. They will serve as Kleinert Fellows in the Project Management Student Network (PMSN), deliver presentations of their work twice during their academic careers, and assist with planning Kleinert events throughout the academic year.

Application Requirements

Please have the following documents ready when applying for the Professor Edward Kleinert Memorial Scholarship Fund Application. The application form opens April 1, 2025.

All application materials must be submitted in English.

Statement of Purpose
In 500 words or fewer, please explain how you intend to use the knowledge and skills acquired in the M.S. Project Management program to positively impact others through projects that promote a more sustainable and equitable society. Also, include one actionable and achievable goal you aim to accomplish before you graduate from the program.

Statements of purpose will be run through a generative AI and plagiarism detection process.

Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
Your application must include two recommendation letters from professional or academic contacts (professors, supervisors, mentors, etc.). Please make sure the letter specifically addresses your qualifications for the scholarship.

Resume/CV
Please submit a resume that includes your relevant work experience, limited to two pages.

Scholarship Amount

We are excited to offer two awards of $25,000 each! Each recipient will receive $12,500 in both the Fall and Spring semesters, making it easier to support your journey throughout the academic year.

REVIEW PROCESS

A panel of faculty, alumni, and industry partners will review all applications. After the initial review, finalists will be invited to interview virtually with the review panel.

Awardees will be notified by email in August 2025.
