NYU School of Professional Studies Division of Programs in Business to Host the 77th Institute on Federal Taxation

Held from October 21-26 at the Grand Hyatt New York, the Event Will Afford Attendees “A Year of Insights and Analyses From America’s Top Tax Authorities”

NEW YORK, October 19, 2018— Tax practitioners can stay abreast of the latest trends and gain insight into the full impact of the past year’s tax reforms from America’s leading tax experts during the 77th Institute on Federal Taxation (IFT). Hosted by the Finance and Law programs within the NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) Division of Programs in Business, IFT will take place from October 21-26 at the Grand Hyatt New York.

Last December, President Trump signed into law H.R.1, commonly referred to as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). The TCJA is the largest overhaul of the tax code since the Tax Reform Act of 1986. It makes broad changes across personal, corporate, and estate taxes, and although many portions of the Act that apply to individuals and estates will sunset after 2025, many of TCJA’s changes will continue to be effective after 2025 unless changed by future legislation.

The year’s IFT will focus on key tax provisions signed into law by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act with specific emphasis on what clients and tax practitioners should know going forward. Nationally recognized experts will guide attendees through in-depth general sessions and panel discussion, identifying the biggest opportunities and challenges presented by the TCJA.

The NYUSPS Institute on Federal Taxation is designed for the practitioner who must frequently anticipate and handle federal tax matters. It attracts attorneys, both general tax practitioners and specialists; accountants; corporate treasury and compliance executives; tax managers; and financial planners, who seek expert discussion of the latest technical, legislative, and planning developments. Participants can obtain credit for continuing education.

Presentations during this year’s Institute will cover the most advanced tax issues, offering participants a clear understanding of the key issues affecting their clients or business, and presenting planning ideas that can immediately be used in practice. Just as important, the Institute provides the ideal setting in which to meet practitioners from around the country.

The six-day program will encompass all major areas of tax, including current developments; tax controversies; corporate tax; partnerships, LLCs, and real estate; international tax; trusts and estates; executive compensation and employee benefits; closely-held businesses; ethics; and hot tax topics.
