NYU School of Professional Studies Schack Institute of Real Estate to Host 52nd Annual Conference on Capital Markets in Real Estate

November 14 Event Will Include Special Address by Larry Silverstein, Luncheon Panel Featuring New York City’s Leading Developers, One-on-One Interviews with Brookfield Chairman Ric Clark and RXR Chairman Scott Rechler, and Timely Workshop on the Future of Shared Economy Real Estate Companies

NEW YORK, November 8, 2019—The NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) Schack Institute of Real Estate will host the 52^nd Annual Conference on Capital Markets in Real Estate on Thursday, November 14, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at The Pierre in New York City.

For more than half a century, the Capital Markets Conference has been one of the industry's most prominent forums on the state of commercial real estate capital markets and investment activity. Once again this year, the Conference will convene industry leaders for a vigorous debate on global equity and debt capital flows, institutional and private equity investment activity, and emerging sources of market disruption.

“Each year, the Capital Markets Conference draws upon the combined knowledge and experience of leaders in the real estate industry to share their vision and predictions for our industry,” noted Conference Host Sam Chandan, Larry & Klara Silverstein Chair in Real Estate Development & Investment, and associate dean of the NYUSPS Schack Institute of Real Estate. “In addition to enlightening panel discussions, this year’s conference workshops address the outlook for shared economy and property technology firms at a critical juncture for these businesses.”

“PropTech — The Intersection of Innovation, Capital, and Technology in the CRE” and “The Rise of the Shared Economy and the Implications of Live, Work, Meet, Stay, and Shop for Real Estate” will provide a deep dive into innovation in property technology and the outlook for shared economy services, which are having a profound impact on real estate investment and capital markets but are also finding themselves under increased scrutiny.

As always, the Conference will feature the popular panel debate, “The Golden Apple: The Mount Rushmore of New York City Real Estate,” which will include Marty Burger, chief executive officer, Silverstein Properties; MaryAnne Gilmartin, co-founder & chief executive officer, L&L MAG; Scott Rechler ’90, chairman & chief executive officer, RXR Realty; Stephen Ross, chairman & founder, Related Companies; and William Rudin, chief executive officer & co-chairman, Rudin Management Company, in a discussion moderated by Robert S. Blumenthal, vice chairman & managing director, Americas Real Estate, Gaming, Lodging, and Leisure Group, Deutsche Bank Securities.

Larry Silverstein ’52, chairman, Silverstein Properties, will deliver a special address during the Conference luncheon. The Golden Apple panel will be followed by special one-on-one discussions with Ric Clark, managing partner & chairman, Brookfield Property Group and Brookfield Property Partners, and Scott Rechler.

This year’s Conference is chaired by Robert S. Blumenthal; and co-chaired by Marty Burger; Scott Rechler; and Wendy Silverstein, former chief investment officer. The Conference faculty co-host is Manish Srivastava, clinical associate professor, Schack Institute of Real Estate.

The NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) Schack Institute of Real Estate was founded in 1967 at the initiative of prominent members of the New York City real estate community, who encouraged NYU to establish an academic center that would provide a world-class education for industry professionals.
