SENA POTTACKAL TO BE AWARDED THE NEW YORK WOMEN IN COMMUNICATIONS SCHOLARSHIP AT 2019 MATRIX AWARDS

NYU School of Professional Studies MS in Public Relations and Corporate Communication Student to Receive a Scholarship for Excellence in Communications

NEW YORK, April 10, 2019New York Women in Communications has awarded Sena Pottackal, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, a graduate student in the NYU School of Professional Studies MS in Public Relations and Corporate Communication, with a prestigious academic scholarship for 2019. Pottackal is among 14 scholarship recipients to be recognized for receiving this honor at the annual Matrix Awards—the communications industry event of the year, which will be held on May 6, 2019 at the Sheraton New York Times Square in New York City. The celebrated event will be hosted by Bloomberg Media Group. More than 1,000 professionals from the communications industry are expected to attend.

Each year, NYWICI awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors and college undergraduate and graduate students who intend to pursue or further their career in communications. The scholarships are bestowed upon students who achieve academic excellence in their area of study and who demonstrate a commitment to the field of communications. New York Women in Communications is committed to inclusion and diversity.

“Sena Pottackal is a shining example of the type of rising young professional whom we attract in the MS in Public Relations and Corporate Communication program. We are incredibly proud of her for receiving this well-deserved honor. She is an inspiration to the faculty members and to her fellow students who are future leaders of this industry,” commented Michael Diamond, clinical assistant professor and academic director of Integrated Marketing and Communications, NYU School of Professional Studies Division of Programs in Business.

Pottackal will be recognized during the prestigious early-May event, which will be emceed by MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski, and will feature Award honorees, who include: Padma Lakshmi, Kate Lewis, Jeanine Liburd, Susan Magrino, Norah O’Donnell, Kathy Ring, Lisa Sherman, and Sally Susman.

The New York Women in Communications Foundation is the largest foundation for communications scholarships for women in the country. Since 2000, NYWICI has issued more than $1.7 million in scholarship support. Scholarships are awarded annually based upon academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community-service activities, honors and other awards or recognition, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations.
