NEW YORK, NY, January 28, 2019 — In today’s increasingly global environment, the intersection between sport and diplomacy has become an everyday phenomenon—a way to bring people together and to break down the barriers that often stand in the way of peace and understanding. To focus on this topic and to allow professionals in sports, the media, and diplomatic circles the opportunity to share their views, the NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport and Sport & Démocratie will host The Power of Sport and Diplomacy on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at the NYU Global Center for Academic and Spiritual Life, Grand Hall, 238 Thompson Street, New York, NY. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and doors open at 8:00 a.m.
Supported by the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy at SOAS University of London, the event will feature two informative roundtables anchored by enlightening opening remarks from co-hosts Vince Gennaro, associate dean of the NYUSPS Tisch Institute for Global Sport, and Sylvère-Henry Cissé, chairman, Sport & Démocratie. The roundtables will be moderated by Dr. Lindsay Sarah Krasnoff, author and consultant, Sport & Démocratie and SOAS University of London; Dr. Hakim Zermouni, author, Sport & Démocratie; and Youcef Ouidyassi, founder and CEO of YOUNOMA Prod, Sport & Démocratie.
In addition to hosting this professional event, the NYUSPS Tisch Institute for Global Sport recently launched the new MS in Global Sport to help meet the growing worldwide demand for business professionals with the management, economic, analytical, marketing, and legal skills required to lead in the global sport marketplace. Applications are currently being accepted for the inaugural Fall 2019 class.
