Jennifer Scott, DPhil, Leaves Ogilvy for the NYU School of Professional Studies

New York, NY — Jennifer Scott, DPhil, who until recently had served as managing director, thought leadership for Ogilvy, has left the industry giant after 14 years, to pursue a career in academia at the NYU School of Professional Studies within the Division of Programs in Business. Scott was recently appointed a clinical assistant professor for PR and Corporate Communication, and will begin teaching this fall.

“The NYU School of Professional Studies is delighted to welcome Jennifer Scott as a faculty member,” said Martin Ihrig, PhD, associate dean of the Division of Programs in Business. “NYU SPS has thrived by providing a unique graduate experience, which includes significant exposure to professional teaching and applied research. Jennifer Scott’s appointment reinforces this commitment to developing excellence in both theory and practice.”

Michael Diamond, a clinical assistant professor and the academic director of the Department of Integrated Marketing and Communications noted, “Jennifer’s appointment reflects the growing reputation of the program at NYU SPS and the strength of the faculty we attract. In addition, our nomination for a PR Week Award this year also underscores our success in developing an educational experience that prepares graduates to be leaders in the communication profession—critical thinkers and valued contributors. Jennifer will build on that momentum.”

In addition to teaching and syllabus development, Scott’s role will include spearheading thought leadership across marketing and PR, in collaboration with experts at NYU SPS, as well as with external organizations. “My aspiration is to help strengthen best practices in modern PR and corporate communication, and to show how what we do works in professional environments,” she asserted.

Prior to joining Ogilvy, Scott was president of Edelman Intelligence. She has provided strategic leadership on award-winning campaigns, including Dove Real Beauty and the DuPont Global Food Security Index. Her clients have included Unilever, LG, Merck, American Express, the Government of Mexico, the CDC, and the World Bank. She has served as US Juror for the Cannes PR Lions and has created proprietary industry products including Ogilvy’s IQ Influencer Mapping Tool. Scott earned a doctorate from the University of Oxford.
