NYU School of Professional Studies to Present its First Media Talk of 2020, “Passionate Readers, Powerful Publishing: Reaching Niche Audience in New Ways”
NEW YORK, January 14, 2020— The NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) Center for Publishing will present the first panel discussion of its 2020 Media Talk Series on Wednesday, February 12, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. The panel, “Passionate Readers, Powerful Publishing: Reaching Niche Audiences in New Ways,” will take place at the NYU Kimmel Center for University Life, Rosenthal Pavilion, 10th Floor, 60 Washington Square South (between LaGuardia Place & Thompson Streets). A networking cocktail reception will follow from 8:00 – 9:00 p.m.
The panel discussion will focus on the importance of genre fiction, and how authors connect with readers through unique vantage points and literary styles. Panelists will focus on a variety of genres including mysteries, romances, dystopian and historical fiction, and sci-fi.
Pamela Paul, editor of The New York Times Book Review, will moderate the discussion. Panelists include:
- Sarah MacLean, a Washington Post columnist and bestselling author of young adult and romance novels, including her New York Times bestselling debut novel, “Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake.” She is often described as the “queen of historical romance.”
- Tochi Onyebuchi, author of the science fiction/fantasy novels, War Girls and Beasts Made of Night, as well as the soon-to-be-released novel Riot Baby.
- Veronica Roth, the New York Times bestselling author of the popular Divergent Trilogy Series (Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegiant), the Carve the Mark duology, and the forthcoming novel Chosen Ones.
- Karin Slaughter, an internationally acclaimed mystery writer who has published more than 19 novels, including her most recent The Last Widow, in 37 languages and with more than 35 million copies sold worldwide.
