NYU School of Professional Studies Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality to Virtually Host 26th Annual Stephen W. Brener Distinguished Lecturer Series in Hospitality Management, Featuring Christopher J. Nassetta, Hilton President & CEO
NEW YORK, March 5, 2021 –The NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality will present the 26th Annual Stephen W. Brener Distinguished Lecturer Series in Hospitality Management, featuring hotelier Christopher J. Nassetta, president and chief executive officer, Hilton, and chairman of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). The event will take place virtually on Wednesday, March 17, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. via Zoom webinar.
During the event, titled “Hospitality and Travel Revisited: Strategies for Recovery,” Jonathan M. Tisch, chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels & Co. and co-chairman of the Board of Loews Corporation, will lead an insightful conversation with Nassetta on the future of the industry and how it will adapt moving forward and in the post-pandemic phase.
While COVID-19 has affected industry sectors around the globe, the travel industry has been among the most directly impacted. The pandemic has caused substantial shifts in every travel segment including the hotel industry, and some changes, whether subtle or fundamental, may endure for many years to come. For Nassetta, this is not the first crisis he has had to face: he was appointed to his current role at Hilton shortly before the 2008 financial crisis, and guided the company through the Great Recession and the recovery that followed. With a portfolio of 18 world-class brands comprising more than 6,300 properties and one million rooms in 118 countries and territories, he brings a global perspective to the question of what lies ahead for the hotel industry and travel in general.
