Ackman Lectures in Real Estate Leadership and Ethics: Rebuilding the Heart of the City: Lessons from the World Trade Center and Lower Manhattan’s Revival

The Ackman Lectures in Real Estate Leadership and Ethics are made possible through the support of The Herman and Lawrence D. Ackman Endowment Fund in Business Ethics. Each year, the Ackman Lecture is delivered by a distinguished member of the real estate community who exemplifies ethical leadership in business and has made a lasting impact on the communities in which they develop, invest, or provide capital.

This panel delves into the remarkable revival of Lower Manhattan, spotlighting the narratives and insights from two pivotal works: The Rising: The Twenty-Year Battle to Rebuild the World Trade Center by Larry A. Silverstein and 20+ Years of Urban Rebuilding: Lessons from the Revival of Lower Manhattan After 9/11 by co-authors Patrice Derrington and Rosemary Scanlon. Moderated by Marc Norman, Larry & Klara Silverstein Chair and Associate Dean at the NYU SPS Schack Institute of Real Estate, the discussion unites leading voices in real estate, ethics, and urban development. Together, they share invaluable lessons on overcoming adversity, rebuilding iconic landmarks, and the transformative power of leadership in urban renewal.
