Join us for an insightful event featuring two engaging panels focused on opportunities and experiences at the United Nations. The first panel will feature CGA students who have interned with the UN, sharing their first-hand experiences and practical advice on navigating life as a UN intern. The second panel will highlight UN officials, offering valuable insights into internship opportunities and the key skills they seek in candidates.

Student Panelists:

Kavya Thakkar: A second-year Global Affairs MS student concentrating in human rights and international law with specializations in the United Nations and data analytics. Kavya interned with the United Nations Counter Terrorism Executive Directorate (CTED), a committee of the UN Security Council.

Allie Johnston: A second-year Global Affairs MS student focusing on global gender studies and peacebuilding. Allie has interned with the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka and is currently interning with the Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions (OROLSI) at the Department of Peace Operations.

Tarin Pramesti Nharesworo: An Indonesian national and second-year MS student in Global Affairs, concentrating in International Development and Humanitarian Assistance. Tarin is currently interning in Political Affairs at the Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO) and has prior experience at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the Indonesian Mission to the UN in New York.

Nelly Teta: A second-year Global Affairs MS student concentrating in Global Economy with specializations in Data Analytics and the United Nations. Nelly interned at UNDP's Digital Office on Thought, Leadership, and Partnerships, working on high-level event strategies and digital transformation in the Global South.

Moderator:

Neve Durrwachter: A second-year Global Affairs MS student specializing in International Development and Humanitarian Assistance. Neve interned with the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), assisting in the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and co-authoring the biennial report on Human Resource Development.

UN Officials Panelists:

Jérôme Mellon: Head of the Policy and Operational Support Team within the Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions at the UN Department of Peace Operations. Jérôme has extensive experience in peacekeeping operations, having contributed to the establishment of missions in South Sudan, Mali, and Sudan.

Megan Roberts: Specialist in the Chief Digital Office of UNDP, with expertise in digital and emerging technologies, multilateral cooperation, and policy development. Megan previously worked at the United Nations Foundation and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.

Jenna Russo: Director of Research at the International Peace Institute and Head of the Brian Urquhart Center for Peace Operations. Jenna has over a decade of experience consulting with the UN on peacekeeping, disarmament, and civilian protection.

Sebastian von Einsiedel: Senior Advisor on Internally Displaced Persons at the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Sebastian has over 20 years of experience in various UN roles, focusing on humanitarian and peacekeeping efforts.
