By applying as a transfer student to the NYU School of Professional Studies Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies, you are taking the first step towards completing your undergraduate degree at one of the top educational institutions of higher learning in the country—NYU.
You qualify as a transfer student if:
- You are currently enrolled at a two-year community college or another four-year college and wish to transfer.
- You have taken courses towards a bachelor’s degree and, after a hiatus from your studies, you have decided to return to college to complete your undergraduate degree.
Transfer Admission and Process
The NYU School of Professional Studies admissions committee performs a holistic review of candidates, taking into consideration every component of the application. Please be sure to review the admissions criteria to better familiarize yourself with the admissions process.
As a transfer student, we understand that you want to complete your degree in a cost-effective and timely manner. At the NYU School of Professional Studies, our staff of dedicated advisers meets, one-on-one, with prospective transfer students to determine how many of their credits will transfer and to map out a course of study that makes sense for their academic and career goals.
Community College Transfer Opportunity Program (CCTOP)
The Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies partners with the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development and the NYU School of Social Services through CCTOP. This scholarship and advisement program is designed to help qualified community college students transfer to the Division.
The CCTOP scholarship will award, to qualified students, 50 percent of a student’s financial need, after accounting for expected family contribution from the estimated cost of attendance. This will have no impact on the student’s other aid eligibility, and state and federal aid will be applied after the scholarship amount is awarded for the remaining need.
Credit for Prior Learning
Through our Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) program, students may earn credit for certain life experiences that are equivalent to college level study. PLA can expedite degree completion and reduce tuition costs.
Admission Requirements for Credit Transfer
- The AAS degree and a minimum GPA of 2.75
- The Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies accepts transfer credits only, not course grades
- Grades in courses must be a C or better
- Students are expected to have met the minimum requirements for admission to QBCC, including a US high school diploma, GED, or the international equivalent.
- Students must submit a completed application and an official QBCC transcript to be admitted.
Official transcripts from any other college or university attended prior to QBCC; credits will be evaluated under our standard transfer credit policies.
Students who wish to transfer but do not meet all of the above requirements or are unable to enroll within two years after graduation will receive admission consideration under our standard transfer credit policies.
