MAY 9, 2019, NEW YORK, NY—More than 2,050 graduate and undergraduate students from across the country and around the world will receive their degrees from the NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) during Convocation ceremonies that will recognize them for their completion of rigorous, professionally focused programs of study. NYU President Andrew Hamilton will address degree candidates at both Convocation ceremonies.
Established in 1934, the NYU School of Professional Studies, which will be celebrating its 85th anniversary beginning in Fall 2019, prepares students who are just beginning on their career paths, as well as those who are seasoned professionals, with the critical knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in emerging and growing industries in the US and around the world.
The Graduate Convocation ceremony will take place on Friday, May 24, 2019, 5:00—7:30 p.m., at Radio City Music Hall. Students will receive their degrees in a broad range of fields that make NYUSPS so unique in its ability to produce leaders and innovators of industry—Construction Management, Real Estate, and Real Estate Development; Global Affairs; Hospitality Industry Studies; Tourism Management; Human Resource Management and Development; Integrated Marketing, and Public Relations and Corporate Communication; Management and Systems; Project Management; Professional Writing; Publishing; Sports Business; and Translation.
Neil Glat, president of the NY Jets, will address the graduate degree candidates, providing his thoughts on successful personal and professional development. Glat recently completed his seventh season with the team. In this leadership role, he has elevated the organization’s gameday and off-field activities, spearheaded initiatives such as the Jets Rewards program; the team’s investment in Sapphire Sport, a sports technology venture capital firm; and the team’s recent brand and uniform launch. He also has built strategic partnerships with numerous Fortune 500 companies and has led community-based initiatives, including the Jets Tackling Bullying program in partnership with STOMP Out Bullying. Read his full biography. Carmella Glover, MS in PR & Corporate Communication, NYUSPS Division of Programs in Business, will represent the graduate class.
The School’s Undergraduate Convocation ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 23, 2019, 11 a.m.—1:00 p.m., at the Manhattan Center, Hammerstein Ballroom. Students in traditional, four-year programs of study in Hotel and Tourism Management, Real Estate, and Sports Management, along with post-traditional students in the Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies, who have gone back to school to earn their degree, will be recognized for this critical milestone in their education.
Lindsey Pollak, a leading expert on the millennial generation and today’s multigenerational workplace, will address the undergraduate degree candidates. Pollak is The New York Times bestselling author of Becoming the Boss: New Rules for the Next Generation of Leaders and Getting from College to Career: Your Essential Guide to Succeeding in the Real World. Her latest book, The Remix: How to Lead and Succeed in the Multigenerational Workplace, was published by HarperCollins in May 2019. Read her full biography. Adam Simon Lassner, BS in Sports Management, with a concentration in Sports Media, NYUSPS Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport, will represent the undergraduate class.
