NYU School of Professional Studies Division of Programs in Business Appoints Colin Slabach, PhD, CFP®, as Faculty Lead of its New MS in Financial Planning

Industry Veteran Will Welcome the Program’s Inaugural Cohort, Launching a Graduate-Level Program That Meets the Rising Demand for Financial Planners Who Can Address the Changing Dynamics of Personal Finance

New York, NY — The NYU School of Professional Studies Division of Programs in Business is pleased to announce that Colin M. Slabach, PhD, CFP^®, has been appointed as a clinical assistant professor and the faculty lead for its new 30-credit MS in Financial Planning, which will launch this fall. Slabach is an expert in financial planning, specializing in retirement planning and behavioral finance. His expertise will ground the MS in Financial Planning in the solid foundations of industry practice on which it was built, while promoting its innovative concentrations in Behavioral Finance and Financial Analytics.

"I am thrilled to have been selected as the faculty lead of this innovative NYU degree program, which will prepare individuals who seek to break into the financial industry, as well as those financial professionals who aspire to expand their knowledge in order to become full-comprehensive planners," said Slabach. The program, which can be completed in as little as one year of full-time study, prepares students for financial planning jobs in wealth management practices such as registered independent advisory firms and settings like banks, investment firms, and insurance companies. As large numbers of financial professionals approach retirement, a financial advisor career will become a path that can provide a competitive salary and great satisfaction in helping others. Those interested in pursuing this career path will need a more well-rounded educational experience—one that explores numerous changes occurring in the profession and how to best address them.
